My Idea to make the world a better place

We had a disscution in class about our dying enviroment and things we could do to save it. My idea was to recycle everything instead of just cans and bottles . If we do that there will be a lot less litter. We could reuse things ans buy clothes that have already been worn. Everybody should recycle and the world would be a cleaner happier place.

The war within

In class we read an article from Time Magazine called "The war within" by Nancy Gibbs.Up until today I had not heard much about it but it seems like a very controversial topic. It starts out saying that some female soldiers stationed overseas will stop drinking water after 7pm for fear of being rapped if they used the bathroom. It gets worse because the the assailants are not enemy soldiers, they are our own. If a woman is afraid of her own "family" how is she supposed to stand up against enemies of the country. Most woman are too afraid to even report an assault when it happens for fear of humiliation or demotion. Even if the incedents are reported a mere 8% lead to prosecution. I feel really bad for woman soldiers because they have to worry about being killed and being rapped by the ones who are supposed to be their backup. It takes a woman with a lot of courage to be an American soldier and I hope that the military will find a solution to this problem. I think this is a serious issue and it should be treated that way.

"To a Lady, Who Valu’d Herself on Speaking Her Mind in a Blunt Manner, Which She Call’d Being Sincere" modern translat and 8 line double standard poem

"To a Lady, Who Valu’d Herself on Speaking Her Mind in a Blunt Manner, Which She Call’d Being Sincere" By Mary Barber

Well you Sincerity display,

A virtue wond’rous rare!

Nor value, tho’ the world should say,

You’re rude, so you’re sincere.

To be sincere, then, give me leave;

And I will frankly own,

Since you but this one virtue have,

'Twere better you had none.

Modern translation

When you are let your thoughts become words,
you are looked at as moral,
even though to other people,
your truth is very ugly ,
But let me speak my mind for once,
And I will tell the truth,
If we both cant let our thoughts be free ,
your mouth is better off closed,

8 Line Double-Standard poem
"Domestic Dispute" By Joel kreitzman

My girlfriend hit me once again,
I want to hit her back,
But I cannot hit a girl,
I’ll go to jail for that,
I did nothing to deserve this,
she hits and beats me everyday,
If I even pushed her back,
Id get cuffed and locked away,

Predictions for book 3

Now that I've completed the second book of the hunger games trilogy I can make some predictions as to what the third book has in store. I beleive that the people will form an army and make a stand even if the odds are not in their favor. There were problaby be no games but plenty of blood comming from the war between the Capitol and the distrircts many angry citezens. President Snow will probably end up dying at the end of the book. After Katniss destroyed the force field at the end of book two she instantly became a target for the capitol but also the true symbol of rebellion. In the third book she will probably have to get over her own little personal problems and see the bigger picture. She will have to learn how to make good descions and be a leader. Peeta is going to be used as bait to try to capture Katniss but I also think he might become a traitor and join the Capitol. Gale and Katniss will lead the rebelling army of people together. They will eventuly get married have have kids in the saftey of district 13. District 13 will be a place free from hate and violence out of the capitols reach. It will offer a new beginning for everyone. As for the Capitol good will overcome evil as in most stories. It will be destroyed. My name for book three is "Up in Flames"

Refelction of the year past

Well This is the last writing I have to do for my junior year. It's almost over but it feels like just yesterday I was a freshman. I have to say this years english class was very successful. The class was very interesting this year we did a lot on the topic of censorship. This was a great topic because we had so much to write and talk about. I found a lot of the group discussions very interesting when we all wearn't trying to talk at the same time. I enjoyed only reading four books but getting so in depth with each it really gave us time to understand all the little details in each book. We did so many fun activities that it made english class unforgettable. Thats all I have to say for this year I'll be back in the fall.

Censorship quote

This quote is from Ray bradbury " There is more than one way to burn a book." This quote I totaly agree with. What it means is that you don't have to actuly set a book on fire to damage it. By not reading books in farenheit 451 people were burning books. It eventuly got to the point where the government was burning books and killing the owners of them. I think this is a really good quote and I agree 100% with it.
